Do you know an interesting Red Hair & Freckled saying. Email it in, and we will post it here.
Doug,
Thanks for a fun, good-humored and refreshing site.
For your quotes:
Growing up in the fifties with red hair
and freckles people always connected you with "Howdie Doodie" a television marionette. My parents were always warning me to keep my finger out of my nose or I'd end up looking just like
Howdie Doodie.
My grandmother's purple haired lady-friends would always run their fingers through my hair and remark about what they would give to have such beautiful curls, and of course they
would do this while all you friends were standing their to witness and then imitate. Even the nuns in grade school would spend extra time fixing my hair for picture day.
My mother was a beautician
and would claim that cutting my hair dulled her scissors; that it was like cutting copper wire it was so thick. I wish it still was.
"Red" and "Rusty" and "Carrot
Top" were the most common appellations from familiar strangers. My surname also happened to be Copper so I was also known as "Copper Top" way before the battery came out. I believe they
owe me a bundle in royalties. The worst comment I remember hearing was "Red on the head, like the dick on a dog."
The most common remark I heard about my freckles was, "You've been
standing too close behind the cows in the barn." My Grandmother, another freckle-faced red-head, always told me they were angel kisses.

I am a natural redhead and I have 6 children. All but one has red hair, anyway during childbirth you tend bleed more than others.None of
my children were delivered by the same doctor, yet every doctor made the same comment. Its the red hair, redheads bleed more then anyone else.My last child born 10 months ago,I lost a lot of blood,I had to
have surgery and be transfused. The surgeon and the anesthesiologist both said to me,its the red hair,we transfuse more redheads then anyone else,I told them I wanted to see the scientific data to support
this claim because I was tired of hearing it.Just an interesting"fact". Sechadyl
Redheads have been part of genetics since Genesis of Biblical documentation. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Esau, King David, Jesus; ALL were
redheads. The key to God's choice of the Kings of Israel (Jacob) and the descendants of Aaron, Moses and the Holy priesthood of the Israelites was red hair, red beards and is so today. The
red-haired gene is the predominant gene of the Israelite tribes of Levi and Judah. Redheads are inclined to higher spiritual connections, higher intelligence and greater wisdom
from a Divine source. Chances are that the typical "evil inclination" towards red-haired people came from neo-platonic sources and the rise of the Papacy as the new religion of the world. The
discrimination, prejudice and xenophobia towards red-haired people was partly based on the political plot of eradication of any and all possible descendants of Levi & Judah. Fortunately the genes
were established throughout the known world before the Inquisitions & Crusades. Azanne Research
I am always asked where I got my bright auburn-red hair from, seeing as both my parents have very dark almost black hair. My father,
being 60 when I was born, always answered "rust in the pipes". ~Monica
Cinderella was a redhead too....which may be why the saying "I will treat or beat you like a redheaded step child". I have
heard both. Each of the artists had to make their own colors while creating the film, which is why her hair color changes through out the film but the plan was she was a redhead.
Tried locating the written fact for you however my 2 yr old redhead is requiring my attention. Stacy
As a small child when people used to ask me where I got my red hair (since both parents had darker hair -- mother did have some red
highlights -- red hair did run further back in both families) I would tell them the milkman brought it. Well, our milkman did have red hair. One day my mother suggested that I tell people Santa
Claus brought it. It bothered her that people would just come up and touch my natural curly red hair without asking. She did not like people being that intrusive. In my Sociology
class in college...the teacher said that men used to date blondes, marry brunettes and redheads were the other woman that that was why there's only been one redhead Miss America (or maybe it was Miss
USA) in history. How sad.
How I get a tan is all of my freckles growing together to make one big freckle. [I tell people that I can get a sunburn inside and
being on the other side of the room from the sun.] Lucille
Of course these days if a man said this to me in the work place it would qualify for sexual harassment! However 15 years ago in the fun filled radio
station where I worked a very handsome blonde man informed me that….
Red in the Head means Fire in the Bed!!!

My granny always told me i could move my freckles by doing this... Go outside on the first morning of may when the dew is still on the grass, wipe your
hands on the grass and recite, "On this first morning of may, I wash my freckles away and where I put them i want them to stay!" She swears to this day that's how her friend got a
freckled fanny. lol

Blondes are wild, brunettes are true, but you never know just what a redhead will do! Claudia
"A face without freckles is like a sky without stars!" Stephen Majercik
“Blondes are hot, brunettes are hotter, but redheads are the Hottest!!” ~*~Ashley Coyle~*~
"Is it real?" No, the freckles and blond eyebrows also were apart of the hair dye kit.
"People would dye for hair like that" If they died then how would they enjoy it?
"Where did you get such beautiful hair?" I don't know, it was what my mother ordered.
"You're just going to burn if you lay out" No, I will work on my mini tan (freckle) collection.
"Those freckles are going to turn into age spots." No, they won't. You're just jealous.
"You must be Irish." I am but not as much as you think. Mary Devou
I'm a big Groucho Marx fan, so this one really made me laugh (being a redhead too): Excerpt from a letter to his son: "According to the
wire, you are resting well and are being taken care of by a nurse. I hope she is beautiful and that she has red hair. I don't know why, but whenever I dream of a nurse she always has red hair. Red hair
makes a man want to recover his health quickly, so that he can get on his feet and the nurse off hers." Hahahaa! -Lisa
I was looking over your website and flipping through the quotes section and reminded of a story.
I have always had bright red hair, whereas my mother
and father both have dark hair. When I was about 7 a stranger was commenting on how pretty my hair was while my family was out shopping. The older lady asked how I got such pretty red hair and before my
mother could say anything I replied "From the milkman."
Sass comes eary among the red.

"Where did you get that pretty red hair?" a stranger asked. My son replied "Wal-Mart". That's when he was about 3 years old. It's a shame
he dyes it now at age 15...*sigh*. His Great-Grandmother said his hair reminded her of new copper pennies.
"Blondes may have more fun but redheads are remembered".
“A trucker will slow down for a blonde, stop for a brunette but he'll back up 500 yards for a redhead!”
"While the rest
of the species is descended from apes, redheads are descended from cats." MARK TWAIN
"A face without freckles is like a night without stars."
“As A kid I hated having red hair............the reason.......my brother, 7 years older than me, told me I got red hair because my mother got rusty
after 6 years wit no sex. He also told me my freckles came from flinging the dog poop through the screen door at me”
"Oh where'd the red hair come
from?" My favorite answer is , mom left me out in the rain and it rusted!” John and Debbie Lewallen
" If you want trouble... find your self a redhead."
And of course my parents favorite:
There once was a girl with a Strawberry Curl
Right in the middle of her forehead And when she was good she was very, very good but when she was bad she was horrid.
Ruadh gu brath! Scots gaelic for "Red heads forever!"
